Hello! And welcome to my blog! #POSITIVITY101
So you might be curious, how can you become more positive? Having more positivity in life can for sure make all the unexpected bumps of life easier. So without further ado here are “10 Tips on how to be more Positive” •~• ^•^
Enjoy!

..So... you find yourself stuck in a rut, stuck in a bad situation, you might feel hopeless or see no way out of it, desperately asking for a solution, or perhaps even “Why Me!?” questions.
Sometimes in life, not everything that happens is pretty, it may not always be a positive event or experience.
However I do believe in a way everything happens for a reason, you could not believe in destiny. But at least you can look back at a time when you have had a hard situation and the eventual outcome of it, the positive things you took from it, how it helped you grow as a person, what you learned.
We learn best from adversity, it's when we prove ourselves and eventually can overcome and grow. How can we live a life that is easy? So what you failed or had a horrible setback, okay try again, fail again, live again. Why are we afraid of failures or bad experiences when it's what we learn from, how we get up each time we fall or find ourselves dug into a deep hole. And rise again. It's what defines us as people, which helps us rise after the storm.
This is the mindset that helps
Look back at a time you did not know why something happened, yet you gained something from it.
And know somehow or another, it may be the same thing for this new problem you now face. You may not see it now or know what that thing is yet (how it may help you), but keep looking for it, as much as you can. Search for the positive out of the negative, the insight and "merit", and you will make a great habit out of it! Instead of turning even a tiny problem out of proportion, and making it more overwhelming.

Hey hey now. before you start hating on me :p. A little F.Y.I; Journaling, isn’t just the stereotypical dear diary, π journals most people seem to have in mind. To journal can also be a positive way of expressing yourself, even if you only write negative things for example, and are letting out all the negative emotions/thoughts you have or frustrating experiences you are enduring, and writing it on paper instead of having that inner turmoil in your head, helps!

Believe it or not. This is because when you put it down on paper, it's a way you can positively express it, but can also LET IT GO! :) Ironic as it may sound, because let's be honest here, when you are in a crabby mood you might not first think wow I MUST WRITE THIS DOWN, but I assure you feel a load lighter as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders by doing this incredibly simple act. The best part is no need to talk to someone, or speak out loud to yourself and pace back and forth with life struggles and problems. No one here is judging you, it's all you, by you, only for you to write, and for you to read.

Journaling can take forms in many ways, this is only one positive way to do it.
There are gratitude lists, bucket lists, writing 1- positive for every Negative - thought you write, etc. Story-writing/story-telling. Whatever works for you, do it! You don't have to be a poet, just write anything!
Don’t think it works? Try it!
We often grow up being told we should be thankful for what we have, being compared to those less fortunate in other countries, the poor or hungry.
Those who don’t have any human rights or freedom. And even though it’s true, we don’t always take it to heart, because we haven’t witnessed it usually. Or actually first-hand met those people. As arrogant as that may sound, it’s unconscious for some of us.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t still practice being thankful for what you do have and building up a list (it be physically writing it down daily, once a week or whenever you feel like it would be of help). Or mentally in your head when you have a bit of free time on your mind.
Appreciate the things you often don’t think of. It can be as simple as I’m happy I live close to nature, that I go to a school I like, that I have one good friend or someone who cares about me. You can even make it funny like I’m happy I have “Netflix” or yummy food to get fat on Easter with chocolate π«.

Whatever it is as little or often unnoticed, make it personal and have fun with it! Being thankful makes you humble and down to earth, as well as it helps balance the negative things you might often feel are not fair in your life, with positive things you already do have, but don’t always notice.

You might hate me for this one haha, exercise isn’t for everyone I get it. That’s fine, but unfortunately, it is proven to greatly improve your mood! So you best get to it! Don’t think you have to do 20 push-ups and workout every single hour of everyday, simple stretches, easy yoga π§♂️, moving around a bit, jumping, getting up from your seat, or bed /couch.
Just moving around is enough to boost your mood.
You can build up to exercise, sweat and release happy hormones to help balance out stress. It’s super effective and really makes you so much more balanced and healthy!
You will get used to it even if you aren’t fond of exercise solely because of the positive effects!

Now as a bonus! You may not like exercise but we can all find at least 1 exercise activity we mind the least.
For me that just so happens to be stationary biking, I can be on my phone and get distracted while exercising.
It can be going for a short walk, cycling outside and feeling the wind breeze against my face, energizing me. Dancing to my favourite song in front of the mirror even if you don’t think you are a great dancer. That’s why it’s in private ;D haha. Practice makes perfect.
Look up unique activities that you can participate in that you will hate the least. Recently I love kayaking! And I’m not even the most athletic person.

How can you not be cranky if you only run on 6 hours or less of sleep a day ! (Give or take), you need that beauty sleep! Not those raccoon eyes!

When you sleep you get your body ready, fueled for a great brand new day π! You need to love and care for your body enough to give it time to rest. Even if you are a Night Owl Person! No excuses! So as much as you can, stick to a sleep schedule, have no electronics for 1 hour before sleeping and try to have sleep rituals to help your body have signals that it’s time to sleep soon. If all else fails yawning helps haha.
....
Pt.2
Now as for eating decent. I used to work at an organic food π²π₯«πmarket, worked with some of the most positive human beings ever! I got free food or discounts and I felt great eating healthier. It doesn’t have to be organic, but make an effort to eat good to feel good. Healthy food isn’t nearly as gross as we’d think. You just have to find what you like and cook it in unique ways. Otherwise, Costco has some delicious pre-made healthy food selections as well, for starters.
And even if you are waiting to crack open those chips, soda or Mr. noodles, even the worst cook can still cook. I don't do complicated cooking, sometimes I just prepare cut raw veggies, a bit of carrot, cucumber or other times I make Celery juice, or smoothies and the occasional egg or two, oatmeal, chia seeds with yogurt, quinoa, chickpeas with chicken broth Yum! etc.

I like to take a cup of ginger tea every morning when I wake up, it helps whenever my stomach hurts. But even simply drinking a bit of water in the morning when you first wake up helps. Apple cider, lime/or lemon water, baking soda, vinegar or things that can help your alkaline levels to take a few times a week.
I don't really use recipes online, but if you do, suit yourself :) there is allrecipes.com it may help, anything from Youtube videos, to viral short facebooks gifs and tutorials.
Cooking can be fun and simple, nothing fancy, just stick to healthy and delicious goodness!

Your body will thank you, in the long run, believe me. Especially if you are a busy college student, you need to not burn-out, food and sleep are crucial. Or even if you are younger or older and have a different situation, eating healthy helps even the worst situation.
I have seen what it's like to see family members end up with horrible diseases or long-term illness, Crohn's disease, heart disease, etc. Stuff you can't come back from so easily. For poor lifestyle choices and stress. We all have it, the risk, but the more positive influence the less the risks, and the better you will feel, it's not nearly as intimidating as you may think.
For some reason, it's almost a trend or badge of honour to always be occupied and be busy and to not take proper thorough care of yourself. but remember ~BODY MIND SPIRIT they all link.

....
I think something that someone told me that helped encourage me to eat healthier, (besides me loving the filling yet light on your stomach feeling of eating healthy less greasy food) π₯. It was that my friend told me of this amazing instagram account and author called “ Medical Medium”, he showed me pictures with different foods; vegetables, fruits, and their properties. Their positive effects on the body, like celery being good for anxiety, or certain benefits that go into actually eating certain types of foods. Instead of going straight to medicine for certain things. And using natural remedies for certain things whenever possible.

It made me much more conscientious of what I put into my mouth, and what the unforeseen benefits inside my body, actually are when I'm eating well. The benefits we don’t often think about in the right choices of eating.
In other words, I learned how to eat mindfully!

Share that positivity and love and get rid of toxic people that only waste your time and drain your energy. Be around those with good vibes and those who encourage you to be a better you automatically by just being around them. Ever meet those people who are just so full of life, just speaking to them inspires you? Yes! Well, we need to find some more of that, because as the saying goes “tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are”. We choose for the most part whom we surround ourselves with. If it’s already hard to not be negative, by yourself, now imagine being around it constantly with people who aren’t you, and who you can’t control. You choose your support system, it can build you up, or bring you down. We don’t get to choose our family but we can choose our friends, mentors, and community of those we are closest to. Volunteer, do something positive, if you are introverted that’s okay, but try to pick wisely those who you are around with whenever you do choose, because it might be rubbing on you, so they might as well be positive!
Good people will want to see you succeed, not build you down and will encourage you and celebrate you instead.
Take notes and ask a friend who seems happy go luckyπ, on how they do it!

Similar to what I was touching up on that last bit of doing more of what you love every day, this can relate to doing more for others and less for yourself (in a positive, loving, selfless way).
Sharing, giving, encouraging.

Doing little random acts of kindness feels great! It may come easily to some, and for others, you may have to work yourself into it, but believe in the law of attraction, if you do good, others will want to return the "good" back to you too, more times then not. It won’t go unappreciated even if someone doesn’t always say thanks ππ».

One of the ways to have a meaningful life is to serve others and not yourself as much. In the sense of being thoughtful and selfless. Of being kind and caring, compassionate, empathetic even to strangers. We are all beautiful, wonderful humans, but we need to care and love more for one another. Like a big human family, we all belong to.
Compassion isn't only by blood, it can start with anyone and everywhere.

We can say all we want about achieving high standards, trophies, awards, vacations, having luxurious cars, a perfect hot looking wife or husband, anything you want, materialistic or high-striving. It may help, the money, the drinks, the partying and the fun. But at the end of the day, all of that fades. What do you have left? Who cares for you in this world, what have you done for someone? How can you leave the world better then you found it? Ask yourself that question every day, and you won't have any regrets living life.
~~ I like to remember of this metaphor: 50 YEAR AWARD
"You're 50 years old, you enter a stadium, a theatre or room and you seeπ a crowd full of people, a crowd of people who are awarding you recognition for all the good that you have done in your life, in 50 years what was the legacy you built and will leave behind at the end of your lifetime? That is what we should strive for, that is life and what we should all AIM for πππππππππ§‘πππ
Not being rich
Not having a massive house
Or a large pool
and Palm Trees.
~~
Yes if all those things come along the way with doing great amazing, good things for people, making people's life's better. Then perfect thats, okay, but even then, you have to leave yourself with little and give much to others even at that point it's still necessary.
Ask yourself how much does a human or one person actually really need to survive in the world? And how much of the rest is just pleasure or extra? It's okay to enjoy and be grand but be mindful about it and conscious to not go overboard when it won't matter in 5 years time or less when you get bored about it and want to do something more meaningful instead.
Why else do highly successful business people or office workers change their lives and careers to do more good in the world and not feel burnt out?

Having at least 1 or 2 quotes that can directly be super relatable for you, and wear it out or think it like a "mantra", can be a really nice helpful way to reflect on in times of decision, uneasiness or even just plain mindfulness and enjoying the moment. Being in the moment and not elsewhere. But present.

It can be motivational, happy, inspirational, funny, or even depressing every now and then if you need to know you are not alone out there, and people realize your struggles as well and can sum up the bravery and courageous acts of it you might not think of usually.
I believe "Calm" and "Headspace" have some within the app as well.

What you hear, what you see and are surrounded by constantly every day, can either help or break you.
So take the time to download a little positive quotes app on your phone, print out papers to stick up to a bulletin board, or your room, next to your door so you can see it every day, or even do fun little positive sticky notes for yourself.
Quotes can draw up from yourself, you can think what do I need to hear right now that would help me? Be wise, be creative.
Or you can also look up quotes on google, or on your phone quote/affirmations app and leave it on with notifications.

Meditation isn't nearly as cheesy as it sounds, or as everyone might think. If you could be proven to become more focused, smarter, more in control of your brain and life. Become happier as well as more resilient, wouldn't you do it too?

I recommend Insight Timer because it is fully free besides some courses, and has millions of amazing different guided meditations, music sounds, and much more. It's the most used "Free" meditation app
Yay we are finally here, time to wrap things up π
Now now, this isn't advertised or funded by American Psychologists Association or "Psychology Today", this is just pure healthy advice and love. As people we should be thankful someone in the world would love to hear about us blab about our problems and not have to shut up about it, and all they have to do is listen. Kidding, but true haha, let's be honest even your most loving parent, sibling, cousin or friend might daydream or wander off while you are mid-sentence into a 1-hour conversation.

Now going to seek help might be controversial, depending on your experiences, services available around you, culture/beliefs and stereotypes. But I can tell you firsthand that none of that is true, there is no stigma. There is only Bravery. And celebration in talking to someone to be able to become more positive, there is no shame at all! If anything when I have gone into counselling with several different people as counsellors or psychologists etc, it was amazing, refreshing and such a precious safe space to be vulnerable yet "whole". It doesn't have to be depressing or a sad space, it's like talking to a friend, they can be funny, kind, hilarious and incredible people to talk to, you just need to find the right fit.
And make it what you want.
Now that we got that out of the way, so what about costs? Unfortunately, not all of us have great insurance, or much money to pay a counsellor, psychiatrist or psychologist. Therapy is usually 1 hour and once a week depending on your needs or the therapist's availability. Costs can average from 80$-100$, or 50$-240$ wider range overview, depending on where you live and the counsellor or service provider.

However two things that help are; for counsellors and psychologists and others dedicated in the mental health wellness careers, you can often find many go by a pay scale, a "sliding scale"- meaning that you pay what you can, based off your income what would be most doable (affordable) for you.

Chart Example:

Now even then, depending on your country and services nearby, for example in Canada most average size cities mandatory usually have a free walk-in service for mental health services and therapy counselling. Usually, in these, you can come for free on certain days i.e Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-5pm as an example. Or some resource places offer free walk-in therapy every day. You can search online and see what is available for you and their schedules.

Second thing ~that helps is that if those options above don't work for you, counsellors have a mandatory amount of hours of voluntary goodwill service. That every month or whenever they can they might allow free patients or low-cost patients that truly need the help and really want the counselling therapy but can't pay much or can't pay at all from their pocket. In those cases, even if that counsellor has a standard hourly rate fee, there can be some leeway depending on your situation and desperate need.

So there is hope don't give up on getting what you need to become a happier human being, even if sometimes it requires outside help, there's nothing wrong with that.
If anything it shows strength to acknowledge when you can do things alone, and when you need help. That is not weak, that is smart.

Here is a website/link I will attach if this is something that may interest you, you can look at what's available in your area, good luck! And best wishes
take it slow and be open-minded, individual progress works in different ways for all of us, so have patience and willingness if you are receiving counselling already <3.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists
Also if you don't want one on one sessions, there are free drop-in group sessions and help for anxiety, trauma, recovery, loss, depression, alcoholism, smoking and so much more. As well as fun yoga classes, mindfulness classes, workshops, motivational speakers, seminars or different helpful ways to receive psychological help in unique ways. You never know what might do the trick for you, so try a few different options and see what helps you the most.

Last advice I can give you is...
Grow wise/ know that life isn’t "out to get you”
we all have our good times and bad times.
Learn from your mistakes and accept them, as hard as that may sound, know that you can't define your self-worth based on bad life experiences. We can all change, grow and become more positive wonderful people, it's never too late, don't grow bitter, always have hope and faith in life despite the bad, and know nothing lasts forever, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. After the rain comes the rainbow.

I hope this really helped, I realize it's a long guide, but I truly care for others and wanted to help sum up what I live by, as well as profound research/ scientific studies of what can help us all be much happier in life. So I summed up all of the things that can help you lead a more positive healthy wonderful life.
Share these lovely messages with someone who needs it, take them to heart, and live by them. May you have a great day

Get Those FEEL GOOD VIBES
#1.) Make Life Lessons Out Of The “Bad”
..So... you find yourself stuck in a rut, stuck in a bad situation, you might feel hopeless or see no way out of it, desperately asking for a solution, or perhaps even “Why Me!?” questions.
Sometimes in life, not everything that happens is pretty, it may not always be a positive event or experience.

#6.)Surround yourself around positive people!! ❤️❤️❤️
Watch that Self-Talk and do more of What You Love!

Share that positivity and love and get rid of toxic people that only waste your time and drain your energy. Be around those with good vibes and those who encourage you to be a better you automatically by just being around them. Ever meet those people who are just so full of life, just speaking to them inspires you? Yes! Good people will want to see you succeed, not build you down and will encourage you and celebrate you instead.
Take notes and ask a friend who seems happy go luckyπ, on how they do it!
Also. Watch that Self-Talk
You need to care for yourself and acknowledge when you are being way too harsh on yourself and unrealistic. Keep tabs on, "if a friend talked to you like that would you tolerate it?" If the answer is "no", then why would you take that from yourself. Your mind controls your life, what you think, what you believe, of yourself and all that around you is what your perspective on life and the world will be. That will highly influence the quality of your life.
Easier said than done! I know. But BABY STEPS :).

There is a wise quote I love:
"Every day you wake up you get to choose, we do have a choice... we can focus on what's wrong in our live's or what's right with our lives. How focusing on what's right in our live's, rather then what's wrong with our live's is the best way to fix what's wrong in our lives. Moreover focusing on what's right in the world, is the best way to fix what's wrong in the world."
It's a very important principle that is 100% true, sure sadly some of us are truly in desperate situations where we can't always have this privilege, however, even then this can truly help you in life a lot. And applies to EVERYONE :)
We don't get to choose where we are born in the world, what culture, language or background, and family we are born into.
We don't get to choose what "cards" we are "dealt with"
but we can choose how we "play them"

Lastly, do more of what you love, it be volunteering, dancing, singing, laughing, traveling, walking, running, getting fit, having life epiphanies or career changes. And new life routes. We only have such a limited time on this earth, so be happy, have fun as much as you can, live the life you want. Ask yourself if its my last day to live how do I want to live it? And live that way every single day.
"LEAVE THE WORLD BETTER THEN YOU FOUND IT"
So go out there, and do more in the world!

#7.) Have a purpose/ be kind to others
Similar to what I was touching up on that last bit of doing more of what you love every day, this can relate to doing more for others and less for yourself (in a positive, loving, selfless way).
Sharing, giving, encouraging.

Doing little random acts of kindness feels great!

#8.) Have positive affirmations and quotes you look up to

Having at least 1 or 2 quotes that can directly be super relatable for you, and wear it out or think it like a "mantra", can be a really nice helpful way to reflect on in times of decision, uneasiness or even just plain mindfulness and enjoying the moment. Being in the moment and not elsewhere. But present.

It can be motivational, happy, inspirational, funny, or even depressing every now and then if you need to know you are not alone out there, and people realize your struggles as well and can sum up the bravery and courageous acts of it you might not think of usually.

My personal favourite I use: "Daily Quote App" |

As for my Second favourite and recommendation

Unique Daily Affirmations App
I believe "Calm" and "Headspace" have some within the app as well.

What you hear, what you see and are surrounded by constantly every day, can either help or break you.
So take the time to download a little positive quotes app on your phone, print out papers to stick up to a bulletin board, or your room, next to your door so you can see it every day, or even do fun little positive sticky notes for yourself.
Quotes can draw up from yourself, you can think what do I need to hear right now that would help me? Be wise, be creative.
Or you can also look up quotes on google, or on your phone quote/affirmations app and leave it on with notifications.

#9.) Meditate to start off the day
Hold on we are almost done! Almost coming to an end to this article, hang in there :p it's all savvy advice.
Meditation isn't nearly as cheesy as it sounds, or as everyone might think. If you could be proven to become more focused, smarter, more in control of your brain and life. Become happier as well as more resilient, wouldn't you do it too?
Well if the answer is YES, then you're in the right place. If you said no then come back and try again :p.

Meditation is simply stopping for a few seconds, for a few minutes and being still with the mind. Yes, it's as simple as that! It can be hard for some people at first with busy thoughts, but you get better at it and it comes in easier.

What better way than to wake up and do it right away? If you can do this, empty your thoughts and start fresh to a beautiful brand new day. Then it will greatly impact the rest of your day and its positive quality.

You can meditate like I like to for 3-5 minutes, this can range from guided meditations to sitting by yourself in silence, from classes, or with a friend, or even commonly; guided apps/podcasts/youtube videos so on.

Some do it for 15 minutes or half an hour 30 mins. It all greatly varies your patience grows and the rewards start to show even after 1 time or 1 week depending on everyone's different stages.
If you really don't have too much time in the morning to always do it, then in the afternoon or as a before sleep ritual at night, make it unique whatever works for you. You can start slow and then devote to every day, or 4x a week, or only when you are super stressed out and over-stimulated. You do you <3.

I incredibly recommend starting off with Headspace for 10 sessions every day.

Plus who can resist those adorable happy characters and animation videos?
Plus the lead meditation teacher has such a calming voice and British accent aha.
Brilliant Things Happen in Calm Minds
Meditation "How It Works"
Letting Go Of Effort
and then either sticking with it or moving onto Insight Timer which I currently use.

Or exploring other apps like "Calm" and so on forth

Or exploring other apps like "Calm" and so on forth

I recommend Insight Timer because it is fully free besides some courses, and has millions of amazing different guided meditations, music sounds, and much more. It's the most used "Free" meditation app
#10.) Go To A Counsellor
Now now, this isn't advertised or funded by American Psychologists Association or "Psychology Today", this is just pure healthy advice and love. As people we should be thankful someone in the world would love to hear about us blab about our problems and not have to shut up about it, and all they have to do is listen. Kidding, but true haha, let's be honest even your most loving parent, sibling, cousin or friend might daydream or wander off while you are mid-sentence into a 1-hour conversation.
